Welcome to my February newsletter. My goodness, this month has started with a significant cold snap!
February is traditionally the month associated with romance, not only Valentine's Day this time, but 29 February is supposedly the day when women can propose!
But irrespective of whether or not you celebrate, I thought I would focus on lips and nails this month.
Until next time, happy pampering! Lindsey
Let's Pucker Up - At Home
Lips can very often get ignored and yet with a little effort they can look great!
The first rule is to always protect them, especially in this cold weather. There are lots of different lip salves out there for you to experiment with, and these are ideal especially if your lips are already dry and chapped. If not, many lipsticks also have moisturising and protecting qualities, but just keep those lips covered! Dark lipsticks can draw attention to chapped lips, so keep it pale until your lips are looking lovely!
If you do have very dry lips put vaseline on them before you go to bed at night - if you sleep with your face against the pillow you might want to protect the pillowcase. When you get up in the morning use a very old soft clean toothbrush and gently rub over your lips - loose dry skin will flake off.
If you have trouble with your lipstick bleeding, or feathering around the edges, I recommend trying a clear lip liner. You draw this carefully just around the outside of your lips and that keeps the lipstick crisp, whilst avoiding those harsh dark lines that coloured liners can give you.
To keep lipstick looking good for longer apply with a lip brush then blot with a tissue. Powder over the lipstick lightly then reapply. Very glossy lipsticks don't last as long so choose wisely if you have a problem keeping lipstick on!
Hold Hands! - In the Salon
Nail treatments have always been very popular in the salon. My fibreglass nails are incredibly effective and look really natural even without varnish, so if you have unsightly nails that's definitely the way to go.
If your nails are just weak then why not try strengthening wraps? These are ideal if your nails still grow well, but are soft.
Alternatively try my pampering manicure - with relaxing hand cream massaged in and pretty nails at the end!
